Who are we?
We are hopeless optimists. We believe that high quality and environmental responsibility go hand in hand and that style is timeless. Our garments are made by hand in Portuguese workshops that respect safe work conditions.
The name
CANOPEA refers to the upper level of the tropical forest. This ecosystem, rich in biodiversity, captures the majority of solar energy, allowing for younger plants to grow safely protected by elder trees. This is the energy that we aim to transmit to our children, while making sure they remain safe.
Eco-friendly
Made in Europe in small workshops, our swimwear is made from ECONYL®, a super-resistant regenerated nylon fibre made from fishing nets and other textile waste. Tested over 200 hours in laboratory, our swimsuits are chlorine, seawater and sun cream resistant. Made from high-quality European fabrics, they are rated UPF 50+ without any chemical filter, offering the best protection according to the Australian norm, the international reference for sun protection, while being kind to the skin and the environment.
Our style
Working with subtle yet saturated colors, we are inspired by a different era, when simple lines dominated and style triumphed. Our exclusive designs embrace a mix of clean-cut vintage with a twist of fun and colors, such as the ribbon hidden inside the placket of our rash tops or large colorful bows on a neck. Everything is made to combine comfort and beauty, while reducing the lines to the bare minimum.
Behind the brand
Canopea was founded in 2016 by Constance Hartig, a French mother-of-three. After graduating from Parsons School of Design in NY and following 10 years in PR, she launched her brand in order to reconcile sun protection and fashion by creating beautiful clean cut designs for modern families with a conscious mind.
