Boys' UV-protective swim shorts: beach comfort and elegance
Boys' UV-protective swim shorts are a summer essential for days when swimming turns into playing on the sand. Their looser cut offers a relaxed alternative to fitted swim trunks, with plenty of room to move. At Canopea, our beach shorts combine high UPF 50+ fabric protection on covered areas, careful finishing and timeless style in easy-to-coordinate outfits.
A cut designed to follow every movement
Good boys' swim shorts should allow complete freedom of movement when children run, dive or sit in the sand. An adjustable, elasticated waistband keeps them securely in place without squeezing the stomach.
Made from responsibly selected ECONYL® fabric, produced from recycled fishing nets and marine plastics, our beach shorts are light, soft and quick-drying. For the right fit, use our size guide and your child's height rather than age alone.
UPF 50+ protection and easy outfits
All our shorts provide a physical barrier that blocks more than 98% of UVA and UVB rays on covered areas.
As the upper body and lower legs remain exposed, we recommend pairing the shorts with our boys' UV-protective swim tops or children's UV-protective swim tops. Easy care to preserve ECONYL® fibre
After every beach or pool visit:
- Rinse the shorts in cool fresh water to remove salt, sand or chlorine.
- Machine wash on a delicate cycle at no more than 30°C.
- Lay them flat to dry in the shade. Avoid tumble drying or leaving them damp in a bag.
Frequently asked questions about boys' UV-protective swim shorts
What length of swim shorts should I choose for a boy?
Choose according to the coverage and ease of movement you want. Mid-thigh shorts offer a contemporary look and good coverage while letting children run and squat freely.
Can swim shorts be worn in public pools?
Some public pools require close-fitting swimwear and do not allow loose beach shorts. For these venues, choose boys' fitted swim trunks instead.
Do swim shorts protect the whole leg?
UPF 50+ certification applies only to areas covered by the fabric. High-SPF sunscreen remains essential on exposed lower legs and calves.
