Les plus beaux lacs à visiter en famille en France

The most beautiful lakes to visit with family in France

After a summer 2020 spent in France, you probably want to rediscover other French regions. How about spending a few days near a lake to cool off and change a bit from the seaside? Canopea offers you a taste of summer with the discovery of some of the most beautiful lakes in the Alps.

Lake Annecy (Haute-Savoie)

Lake Annecy, one of the most beautiful lakes in Europe, owes its reputation in part to its 27.5 km² of clear water, of impeccable quality. The ten beaches around the lake make it a very popular place for swimmers. But you can practice many other activities there, both sporty and a little more relaxed: sailing, water skiing, kayaking, diving, stand-up paddle, pedal boating... Unless you prefer to go around the lake by bike, rollerblades or... on foot, a pretty 38 km hike all the same! Fancy the mountains? It offers you many other possibilities: hiking, canyoning, paragliding, mountain biking... The city of Annecy is called the Venice of the Alps, a name it owes to its colorful facades and its canals. Strolling through the alleys of old Annecy is a pleasure that will leave you with unforgettable memories!

Lake Bourget (Savoie)

About thirty kilometers from Annecy, on the edge of Aix-les-Bains, Lake Bourget stretches over 18 km. With a temperature that can rise to 25° in summer, you will really enjoy swimming and the many water activities practiced on the lake. After the pleasures of the water, you will surely appreciate the many possibilities for walks around the lake . Do not hesitate to go to the Chambotte belvedere to enjoy an exceptional view of the entire lake. You can see the Royal Abbey of Hautecombe , which houses the tombs of the Counts of Savoy and the last Italian sovereigns, an opportunity like any other to do a little History with your children!

Lake Serre-Ponçon (Hautes-Alpes / Alpes-de-Haute-Provence)

At an altitude of 780 metres, Lake Serre-Ponçon is an artificial lake fed by the Durance and Ubaye rivers, in the heart of the Southern Alps. The largest lake in France is a true paradise for those who want to enjoy the joys of swimming and water sports in a preserved environment. Don't forget to photograph the small 12th century Saint-Michel chapel which stands on an islet in the middle of the lake. Lake Serre-Ponçon has an astonishing history, which you will have the pleasure of discovering with your family at the Muséoscope du Lac and La Maison de l'Eau et des Energies EDF , both located in Rousset.

Lake Allos (Alpes de Haute-Provence)

We gain altitude by going for a walk on the banks of Lake Allos, in the heart of the Mercantour National Park , at an altitude of 2,228 metres. Lake Allos is home to brown trout and Arctic char, fish that cannot tolerate the slightest pollution! It is only accessible on foot. It takes between 1.5 and 6 hours round trip, depending on your starting point. Also allow 1 hour to go around the lake. No question of swimming, camping, or mountain biking... This is the price to pay to be able to enjoy unspoiled nature. With a bit of luck, you might come across a group of marmots messing around, or spot a few ibex or chamois in the distance. All this makes it an ideal place for families who want to reconnect with nature and recharge their batteries.

Lake Sainte-Croix (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence)

Located between Provence and the Alps, Lake Sainte-Croix will please you if you want to enjoy the pleasures of water and love beautiful landscapes. The many beaches bordering this artificial lake, covering 2,200 hectares, await you. This navigable lake is the stopping point for many kayakers at the exit of the Verdon Gorges. With 310 days of sunshine per year, you don't take much risk with the weather! Want to rent a pedal boat, a kayak, a rowing boat or a motor boat? You will easily find the right equipment nearby. Want to introduce your child to the pleasures of fishing ? Lake Sainte-Croix is full of fish: roach, pike, perch and bleak are in abundance here! Hikers will also find what they are looking for, with the possibility of reaching some beautiful villages in the surrounding area on foot:Bauden , Riez or Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, the earthenware capital.

Lake Castillon (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence)

We stay in the Verdon Natural Park to discover theCastillon lake , located between Castellane and Saint-André-les-Alpes . Smaller than the Sainte-Croix lake and less frequented, it is also quite different in terms of the landscape, which is more reminiscent of mountain lakes. Its three leisure centers will offer water sports enthusiasts many possibilities. If you like fishing, pike, pikeperch and bleak promise you great times. This is more than enough to spend a pleasant family vacation in a beautiful natural setting!
