Oléron Island: The luminous one
In his book Le roman d'un enfant, the writer Pierre Loti nicknamed the island “Oléron the luminous”, because of its high level of sunshine. The second largest French island after Corsica, Oléron is located off the coast of Charente Maritime. Connected to the continent by a bridge since the 1960s, even if purists will prefer to get there by boat from La Rochelle, the island offers an astonishing variety of landscapes between dunes, pine forests and fine sandy beaches. The island of Oléron is also home to a breathtaking citadel and will obviously delight oyster lovers! Thanks to its many cycle paths, the island is also very suitable for walking.
Île de Ré: The most Parisian
